Jason Downing SC has practiced as a solicitor and then barrister in NSW for almost 30 years, across multiple areas of civil law. He has regularly appeared in state and federal courts, at first instance and on appeal, in the Coroner’s Court of NSW (as both counsel assisting and for interested parties), in the ICAC (as counsel assisting) and in NCAT (for occupational/disciplinary matters).
Jason has been counsel assisting in some of the most complex and significant inquests held in NSW, including the Inquest into the deaths arising from the Lindt Cafe Siege, the Inquest into the death of David Dungay and the inquest into the disappearance and suspected death of Melissa Caddick.
