Elizabeth is a barrister with extensive experience, particularly in the criminal and quasi-criminal jurisdictions. She was called to the Bar in 2014, and in 2019 was appointed a NSW Public Defender. She held this position until 2025.

Elizabeth accepts briefs in a wide range of matters, with her principal areas of practice being criminal law (prosecution and defence), inquests, inquiries and commissions, and public law.

Elizabeth has appeared unled in complex trials in the NSW District and Supreme Courts,  and before the NSW and ACT Courts of Criminal Appeal. She has appeared in inquests, inquiries, special commissions and Royal Commissions.

Elizabeth also appears in a range of other civil proceedings including professional disciplinary matters, care and protection appeals, terrorism and high-risk offender applications and regulatory prosecutions.

Prior to being called to the Bar, Elizabeth was an Associate to Justice Heydon AC in the High Court of Australia. She then worked as a solicitor for ten years, including roles at Legal Aid ACT and the Aboriginal Legal Service (NSW/ACT).

Elizabeth holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Sydney and a Bachelor of Laws (Honours Class I) from the University of Newcastle. Before her call to the Bar, Elizabeth was an Accredited Specialist in Criminal Law.

Elizabeth is a member of the NSW Bar Association. She is President of the Newcastle Bar Association.

Elizabeth is on the Indictable, Complex Crime and Appellate Barrister panels with Legal Aid NSW.
